Frostschutzengel 2.0 - Counseling for homeless people
More and more people in Berlin are sleeping rough or in emergency shelter. An increasing number of homeless people is not from Germany, but from other EU countries. The obstacles in the regular support system faced by this group of people are even higher, e.g. due to language barriers and a lack of knowledge about the offers. We want to close this gap. We offer counselling tot these people.
In the project Frostschutzengel 2.0 social counselors advise homeless people from countries of the European Union and Germany. We offer advice and support in various languages. Currently these are German, English, Polish and Bulgarian. Many EU citizens are dependent on offers of the homeless support system and need infomation about the help opportunities. Here we act as a bridge between the help system and those seeking help. Our colleagues provide multilingual and outreach counseling in the facilities of the low-threshold help system, e.g. in day care centers and emergency shelters. The current working hours and locations can be found under consultation.
The project is funded by the Fund for European Aid to the most Deprived (FEAD). The current FEAD funding period runs from 01/01/2021 to 06/30/2022. In addition, we are still dependent on donations to keep the offer up. The name stays the same: We offer help against social cold! The previous project Frostschutzengel plus was awarded the "FEANTSA Ending Homelessness Award 2018" in November 2018. We can still fall back on the technical expertise of the last few years and are constantly developing our concept in line with requirements.
